Position Summary

The Junior Accountant will report directly to the Senior Accountant and will process accounts payable for Trout Unlimited. Provide quality oversight of accounts payable activity, generate weekly cash disbursement runs. Prepare monthly reconciliation of the corporate Visa account. Enter cash receipt transactions into the accounting system (Solomon). The position is based in Arlington, Virginia.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Review accounts payable activity prepared by field staff for accuracy and processing
  • Prepare weekly cash disbursement runs, generating checks and ACH batches utilizing Microsoft SL's e-banking feature
  • Record monthly operating cash account transactions
  • Record monthly payroll related journal entries
  • Reconcile prepaid expenses and payroll related balance sheet accounts
  • Prepare annual 1099 forms and capture vendor W-9s
  • Monitor timecard status reports; answer field queries in a timely manner
  • Monthly reconciliation of corporate visa account with 200 cardholders
  • Assist with annual audit; special projects as assigned
  • This is a non-supervisory role.

Qualifications

  • Minimum education: Bachelor Degree in accounting or related field
  • Experience in accounting a plus
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Able to manage large sets of data and multiple requests from staff
  • Excellent communication skills; customer service is a must
  • Discrete, confidential, team player
  • Computer literacy: Microsoft Office, Word and Excel, pivot tables a plus
  • Able to meet strict deadlines and work with minimal supervision
  • Experience working in a fast paced, ever changing environment.
